Ohio's OVI law changes

Ohio's OVI (Operating Vehicle Impaired) laws have gone through some significant changes during the past three years.

Ohio has lowered the legal Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) limit from .10 to .08. In addition, Ohio has added a high tier OVI offense which results in enhanced penalties if an individual has a BAC which exceeds .170. Penalties are also increased for an individual who has prior OVI convictions. Recent legislation has extended the period for counting prior offenses from six to twenty years.
